Location. Matachica Beach Resort is located five miles north of the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, Belize. Nearby attractions include Hol Chan Marine Reserve and the Ambergris Museum & Cultural Center.
Hotel Features. A soaring thatch roofed lobby features rustic island design, a library filled with travel magazines, and a collection of music from around the world. Mambo Restaurant is decorated with contemporary paintings, candelabras, hand crafted Belizean art and Central American mahogany furniture. D�cor details include seashells used as salt and pepper shakers. Contemporary dishes include seafood, homemade pastas and breads, and spices and herbs plucked from the resort's gardens. The hotel's Cinema Martini Lounge provides complimentary high speed Internet access. A beachfront bar sets a tropical tone with antique Guatemalan pillars, exotic lounge chairs, a billiard table and mood lighting. The bar offers Cuban cigars and a broad selection of spirits, single malt scotch, port and cognac. Jade Spa offers natural organic treatments such as aromatherapy massages, exfoliating sea salt and clay massages, and eco calm essential facials. On site recreation includes an outdoor pool, sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling and sea kayaking. Resort staff assists with arranging swims with wild dolphins, and cave tubing, jungle adventure tours. Diving excursions to nearby Hol Chan Marine Reserve and the famous Blue Hole can also be arranged.
Guestrooms. The Matachica Beach Resort offers individual air conditioned villas with full baths. Interiors reflect eclectic Central American style with furnishings gathered from around the world. Beds are draped in Frette cotton linens and feather duvets. Patios feature hammocks and open onto views of the Caribbean Sea and the Barrier Reef. Select accommodations includes kitchenettes.
Expert Tip. Aptly named, the Cinema Martini Lounge offers huge plasma televisions that provide wide screens for viewing the resort's extensive collection of classic films. And yes, the lounge also serves martinis.
